Welcome to the Sisu Talents Community
We’re launching something we’ve wanted to build since day one: a community space where freelancers and clients can actually learn useful stuff without wading through corporate buzzwords or “10x your hustle” nonsense.
Welcome to the Sisu Talents Community– your resource for honest freelancing advice, practical how-to guides, and insights that actually help you build a sustainable business (or hire better freelancers if you’re on the client side).
Why We’re Doing This
We know we’re not the first one on the field, there is no shortage of freelancing advice online. Google “how to become a freelancer” and you’ll get 47 million results. The problem? Most of it falls into one of three categories:
- Overly optimistic hustle culture: “Make six figures in three months by following my course!”
- Boring corporate speak: “Leverage synergistic opportunities to maximize your professional trajectory”
- Vague platitudes: “Just believe in yourself and clients will come”
None of that helps when you’re staring at your laptop at 11pm wondering if you charged enough for that project, or trying to figure out why your freelancer hasn’t responded in three days. And non of those definitely help you figure out what is needed to work as a freelancer or how to hire a freelancer with long-term relationship in mind.
We built Sisu Talents because we’re tired of platforms that squeeze freelancers and treat them like numbers. Now we’re building this community for the same reason: the freelancing advice out there doesn’t match reality.
So we’re creating something different.
What You’ll Find Here
For Freelancers: The Real Talk You Need
Getting started guides for people who are new to freelancing and don’t know where to begin. We’ll cover everything from your first 90 days to building a portfolio when you have zero clients. No fluff, just practical steps, and we’ll cover the hard topics too (the ones that gave us the first gray hair, too…)
Finding clients and pricing your work because those are the two biggest challenges every freelancer faces. How to land your first client, where to find good projects, how to calculate your rates, when to raise your prices, all the stuff that keeps you up at night.
European freelancing specifics because we’re actually built for the EEA market. That means real guidance on VAT rules, GDPR compliance, country-specific regulations, and navigating cross-border freelancing. The big US platforms barely touch this stuff. We’re going deep.
Sustainable freelancing practices because burnout is real and “always be hustling” is terrible advice. We’ll talk about work-life balance tools, setting boundaries with clients, managing your workload, and building a freelance career that doesn’t destroy your mental health.
Skills and professional development for staying relevant in your field. What clients actually want, how to position yourself, trends worth paying attention to (and trends that are just hype).
Platform tips and insights about how to use freelance marketplaces effectively, including Sisu Talents, obviously, but also general advice that applies everywhere. Because we want you to succeed, period.
For Clients: How to Work with Freelancers Without Going Crazy
Hiring best practices because finding good freelancers is genuinely hard. How to write job posts that attract quality candidates, how to vet portfolios, what questions to ask, red flags to watch for – we’ll cover all of it.
Managing remote teams effectively. Communication strategies, time zone management, giving feedback that freelancers can actually use, project management tools that work. All the stuff that prevents the “why isn’t my freelancer responding?” panic.
Understanding freelancer pricing so you know what’s reasonable and what’s too good to be true. How freelancers calculate rates, why experience costs more, when to pay hourly vs per-project, what factors affect pricing.
Building long-term relationships with great freelancers once you find them. How to become the client that freelancers prioritize, fair contract terms, payment best practices, creating win-win arrangements.
Legal and practical considerations for hiring across Europe. Contracts, intellectual property, misclassification risks, payment protection, dispute resolution – the unsexy stuff that prevents expensive problems.
For Everyone: Industry Insights and Market Trends
European freelance market analysis because understanding the bigger picture helps you make better decisions. Market size, growth trends, regulatory changes, what’s happening in different countries.
Platform comparisons and alternatives with honest assessments of different marketplaces. Fees, features, pros and cons, which platforms work best for which situations. We’ll compare ourselves too – transparency matters.
Future of work trends that actually affect freelancers and clients. Remote work evolution, changing regulations, technology impacts (without the AI hype), economic shifts, what’s actually changing vs what’s just buzz.
Success stories and case studies from real Sisu Talents users. How freelancers landed great clients, how clients found perfect matches, what worked, what didn’t, actual numbers and outcomes.
What Makes This Different
1. We’re Actually European

Most freelancing advice is written for Americans by Americans. Tax systems? Healthcare? Employment law? All different in Europe. We’re building resources that actually apply to EEA freelancers and clients.
When we talk about VAT rules, GDPR compliance, or registering as self-employed, we’re covering the systems you actually deal with. Not just adapting US advice and hoping it translates.
2. We’re Honest About the Hard Parts
Freelancing isn’t all laptop-on-the-beach Instagram posts. It’s irregular income, difficult clients, imposter syndrome, and wondering where your next project comes from.
We’re not going to pretend it’s easy or sell you a dream. We’re going to be honest about challenges and give you practical ways to handle them.
3. We’re Anti-Hustle Culture
You don’t need to work 80 hours a week to prove you’re serious about freelancing. You don’t need to “rise and grind” or sacrifice your health and relationships.
We built work-hour controls into our platform specifically so freelancers can set boundaries. This community will reflect the same values: sustainable work, reasonable expectations, actually enjoying your life.
4. No Corporate BS
Read our stuff and you’ll notice we talk like humans, not like a marketing department that’s never actually freelanced. We use humor (but not at anyone’s expense). We admit when things are complicated. We call out what’s broken in the industry.
That’s intentional. Life’s too short for boring content that doesn’t help anyone.
What’s Coming Next
We’re starting with core content that addresses the biggest freelancer and client pain points. In the future, you’ll see:
Comprehensive guides on getting started with freelancing, finding clients, pricing strategies, portfolio building, contracts and legal basics, tax essentials, and platform comparisons.
Interactive tools and calculators for freelance rate calculation, project cost estimation, platform fee comparisons, VAT calculations, time-to-revenue planning.
Video content and tutorials for topics that work better with visuals. Platform walkthroughs, case study interviews, expert discussions, skill demonstrations.
Community discussions and forums where freelancers and clients can ask questions, share experiences, and help each other out. Because sometimes you just need to talk to someone who gets it.
Original research and reports on the European freelance market. We’ll survey users, analyze trends, publish data, and share insights you won’t find anywhere else.
